Commons Upgrade and Advisory Group

Dear Commons Users,
We are excited to share some important news regarding the SUNY Learning Commons, including a system upgrade and creation of a Commons Implementation Advisory Group.
Our team installed and has been testing CBox (CUNY in a Box), an upgrade to the existing Commons interface. Based on added functionality and enhanced features, we are performing a system upgrade in early March 2013.
Prior to this:
- We are implementing and integrating features based in part on responses to the Commons users survey. Your input was valuable and we will continue to refer to it as we move forward. Survey results have been posted in the Commons (to view, select “Thank you for your Input!” under ANNOUNCEMENTS).
- A Guide to Interface Changes is under development and will be made available.
- Webinars highlighting key changes and new features have been scheduled for March. Details will be shared in February.
To perform the upgrade, we anticipate the Commons to be down for about one week and will provide ample notice about this.
We know that usability is going to be a factor of success in the implementation of the Commons and there will be an opportunity for user perspective to drive some of the decisions we will have to make as we expand the implementation of the Commons to the broader SUNY Community.
A Commons Implementation Advisory Group is being established to provide that user perspective and we hope some of you, as current Commons users, will volunteer to join this group. The anticipated time commitment for participation in the group is 10- 20 hours over the next few months via 2-3 synchronous meetings.
